Personal Development Plan

As a career, I would like to be a video game designer, working on the aesthetics, narratives and ideas rather than coding, either as an independent developer or working for a larger company. However an alternate career path would be an IT technician working with PC hardware and software. In this career path I could start an independent company focused on fixing and building computers for the public as well as companies. Or I could work for a local or larger company to enter this kind of work.
To achieve the former of the two plans, I plan to study at Sheffield Hallam University for the BA (Honours) Games Design course (https://www.shu.ac.uk/study-here/find-a-course/ba-honours-games-design-fulltime). However, to achieve this I will need to achieve 112 UCAS points, which should equate to a DMM for the BTEC course that I'm already taking. Due to the fact that I have already achieved straight 7s in my English GCSE and an 8 in my Maths, I have already met the basic criteria to enter the university.
To achieve the latter of the two, I do not have to go to any further education as I am already very competent when it comes to building computers and setting them up as I have already built my own PC and have upgraded it several times. However it would benefit me to study further in NNC, possibly in the level 4 course that the college offers as it would allow me to learn more about computer software and basic programming. This could allow me to by firms as an IT technician or even freelance by companies to privately set up networks and servers.
To achieve any one these goals however, I will need to build up an array of skills. These skill include researching details about computer components such as what CUDA cores do and what processor caches are for. This will make me more confident in discussing components to people and helping them choose what to get. Another skill I will need to develop is narrative skills and design as that will help me become a game designer.
